In the PROVE-HF study, the reduction in NT-proBNP levels was associated with the improvement of cardiac systolic and diastolic function consisting in the increase in LVEF and in the decrease of LV end-diastolic volume index (LVEDVI), LV end-systolic volume index (LVESVI), left atrial volume index (LAVI), and early diastolic filling–early diastolic annular velocity (E/eʹ) [96]. This evidence concerns the gene NPPB and hydrops fetalis.
