MAPT and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease: A recent study looked at blood-based biomarkers—amyloid beta [A]1-42/1-40, neurofilament light [NfL], phosphorylated tau [p-tau]181, and glial fibrillary acidic protein [GFAP] that can distinguish between dementia caused by Alzheimer’s disease (AD), frontotemporal dementia (FTD), and dementia with LBD and found that a combination of plasma biomarkers NfL, p-tau181, and GFAP might be useful to discriminate AD, LBD, and FTD [44].
