4Consequently, we previously assessed the association of these genetic loci with T2DM risk based on identified genetic variants that increase T2DM susceptibility in other populations and found that nine variants [WFS1, JAZF1, SLC30A8, CDKN2A/B, TCF7L2, KCNQ1, HMG20A, HNF4A, and DUSP9] were associated with T2DM in the Saudi population [21]. Here, DUSP9 is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
