Hubert and colleagues recently demonstrated that inhibiting HMGB1 in breast and small cell lung cancer models reduced proportions of monocytic/granulocytic myeloid-derived suppressor cells and Tregs, elicited a higher M1/M2 ratio of macrophages, and enhanced dendritic cell activation, without affecting the overall number of (CD45+) immune cells [47]. Here, HMGB1 is linked to small cell lung carcinoma.
