The oncometabolite 2-hydroxyglutarate, which can be derived from glutamine anaplerosis into the TCA cycle, was detected at significantly elevated levels in the bone marrow supernatants of patients with MM than in those with the precursor condition monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) and correlates with higher levels of MYC expression [31]. This evidence concerns the gene MYC and Miyoshi myopathy.
