The proteomic analysis of proteins purified from exosomes of the NCI-838 NSCLC cell line and exosomes from the plasma of LC patients showed that MUC1 is highly expressed (>8-fold) in exosomes isolated from the cell lines and plasma compared to total cellular membrane proteins and exosomes isolated from healthy individuals [95]. Here, MUC1 is linked to laryngotracheoesophageal cleft.
