The two urine cell cycle arrest biomarkers, which are tissue inhibitorof metalloproteinases-2 (TIMP-2) and insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 (IGFBP7), measured by the point-of-care NephroCheck® test, had better test characteristics than NGAL for early diagnosis of moderate to severe AKI (KDIGO stage 2 or 3) within 12 h of sample collection in adult critically ill patients [13]. This evidence concerns the gene LCN2 and acute kidney injury.
