CD8A and vitiligo: Activation of the UPR increases the expression of the cytokines interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-8 by stressed melanocytes [74] and the release of C-X-C chemokine ligand (CXCL) [27,28,34], which mediate T-cell homing to the skin in vitiligo [75], and the production of CXCL16 from stressed keratinocytes that recruits cluster of differentiation 8-positive (CD8+) T cells [76].
