Kawada et al. [28] reported significantly (p-value < 0.05) higher plasma levels of CHI3L1 (chitinase 3-like 1), another member of the family of chitinases, in patients with CRC (n = 31) than in controls (n = 12), the higher values being associated with TNM (T = tumor, N = nodes, and M = metastases) stage III/IV [28]. This evidence concerns the gene CHI3L1 and colorectal carcinoma.
