In AGPAT2 knock-out mice, activation of an alternative MAG pathway for TG biosynthesis leads to hepatic steatosis [10].In the present study, HE and oil red O staining of liver sections revealed abundant fat droplets in the liver of Nile tilapia in the AGPAT2 knock-down group, as well as abnormal liver tissue structure resulting in liver damage. This evidence concerns the gene AGPAT2 and fatty liver disease.
