FASN and diabetes mellitus: Based on the above-said findings, we hypothesized that swietenine (at the dose of 80 mg/kg b.w.)exhibits beneficial effects in diabetes-induced NAFLD via reversing the 1) upregulated expression of critical enzymes involved in de novo lipogenesis (ACLY, ACC1, and FASN) and their transcription factors (SREBP1c and ChREPBβ), and 2) activation of the Nrf2 pathway.
