In Alzheimer’s disease (AD), 3D hydrogel-embedded human neural stem cells [14,15], neural progenitor cells [16,17], and scaffold-encapsulated induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neural progenitor cells [18] can recapitulate amyloid-beta aggregation and accumulation of hyperphosphorylated tau, which are key hallmarks of this disease.
