In contrary to the protective role of the HSP70 family against ferroptosis, a recent study reported that a DNAJ/HSP40 homolog, subfamily B, member 6 (DNAJB6, also known as the mammalian relative of DNAJ (Mrj)) had a pro-ferroptotic effect in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Here, DNAJB6 is linked to esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
