The underlying molecular signaling of higher Hcy level is likely to involve several parallel running events, such as cardiac ischemia, oxidative stress, and inflammation, leading to an increased level of ADMA levels known to enhance the growth factor angiotensin II by activating the tissue renin–angiotensin system’s [35] cell apoptosis and necrosis, and then initiating—under these conditions—the dysmethylation of proteins and genes, all of which are likely to be responsible for cardiac muscle remodeling and dysfunction [36]. This evidence concerns the gene REN and myocardial ischemia.
