Considering the diversity of activators and the complexity of signaling pathways of the NLRP3 inflammasome, it is not surprising that the NLRP3 inflammasome has been shown to be involved in multiple diseases, such as inflammatory bowel diseases, gout, atherosclerosis, obesity, type 2 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and cancers [5]. This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and inflammatory bowel disease.
