With the development of a ‘cytokine storm’ in COVID-19, it is proposed to take into account an increase in the serum concentration of C-reactive protein (CRP) and the neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio (NLR), which are indicators of systemic inflammatory reactions and are widely studied as predictors of the prognosis of patients with viral pneumonia, including COVID-19 [5]. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and COVID-19.
