To investigate the possibility that isolating circulating miRNAs by CD147 immunocapture might improve the diagnostic performance of a cancer‐associated miRNA, we assayed levels of miR‐210 in plasma samples of the same cohorts of healthy individuals and RCC patients as in Figure 7c and d When circulating miRNA was isolated by direct lysis, a significant difference in miR‐210 copy numbers was detected between healthy individuals and patients with advanced‐stage RCC but not between healthy individuals and patients with early‐stage RCC (Figure 8d). The gene discussed is BSG; the disease is renal cell carcinoma.
