Previously, PTX has been explored by our group as a complementary immunomodulatory therapy in the treatment of CCC in chronically T. cruzi-infected C57BL/6 mice, where PTX promoted reduction of CD8+ T cells expressing markers of activation and migration in the spleen and also the activation of cardiac blood vessel endothelial cells, in addition to reducing myocarditis, cardiac tissue damage progression and ameliorating ECG parameters [25]. Here, CD8A is linked to myocarditis.
