CD68 and pancreatitis: In rat pancreatic fibrosis induced by DBTC, immunohistochemistry showed that the number of CD68-expressing M1 macrophages increased at the beginning of pancreatitis and the number of CD163-expressing M2 macrophages was significantly higher in the later stages of pancreatitis, with the appearance of M1 macrophages preceding that of M2 macrophages.
