In FD, mucosal eosinophils are predominant, with mast cells infiltration often occurring alongside, despite reports of CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes and CD68+CCR2+ macrophages as tissue cell populations (Gargala et al., 2007; Futagami et al., 2010; Burns et al., 2019a).
