In a pioneering study of assessing anti-inflammatory therapies for FD, Talley et al. (2021) conducted a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trail in adults with FD and mucosal eosinophilia using steroids that are also known to be effective in treating EoE accompanied by a reversible over-expression of eotaxin-3 and IL-13 (Blanchard et al., 2007). The gene discussed is CCL26; the disease is eosinophilic esophagitis.
