ERBB2 and triple-negative breast carcinoma: Several other studies have reported a survival advantage in patients with HER2+ breast cancer, which may reflect improved disease control related to targeted therapies for HER2+ tumors.32,33 On the other hand the lack of estrogen, progesterone, and human epidermal growth factor 2 receptor expression renders triple-negative breast cancers nonresponsive to targeted therapies, resulting in higher rates of metastases and poorer survival.34 Research for new therapies are needed and ongoing.
