The genome location of GOLPH3 (chr5p13) is frequently amplificated in many cancers (El-Maqsoud et al., 2015); GOLPH3 protein modulates cell size, promotes growth-factor-induced mTOR signaling in human cancer cells, and changes the response to an mTOR inhibitor rapamycin in vivo (Scott et al., 2009). This evidence concerns the gene GOLPH3 and cancer.
