In the 17q21 locus, SNPs in multiple genes that are in strong linkage disequilibrium (LD) have been associated with an increased risk and varying severity of asthma, for example, SNPs in genes gasdermin A (GSDMA), gasdermin B (GSDMB), Ikaros family zinc finger 3 (IKZF3), zona pellucida binding protein 2 (ZPBP2), and ORM1-like protein 3 (ORMDL3) [6–14]. This evidence concerns the gene GSDMB and asthma.
