These findings suggesting that AIM2 is associated with inflammasome complexes during chronic Helicobacter infection were further supported by our observations that secreted circulating protein levels of the bioactive form of the inflammasome effector cytokine, IL‐1β, were elevated in serum of H. felis–infected WT mice compared with broth controls, while serum IL‐1β protein levels were decreased in H. felis–infected Aim2−/− mice, as measured by ELISA (Figure 6g). This evidence concerns the gene AIM2 and Helicobacter pylori infectious disease.
