While this contrasts our current findings that the AIM2 inflammasome promotes Helicobacter‐driven gastric inflammation, these findings nonetheless suggest a dichotomous role for AIM2 in which it promotes early stage Helicobacter infection–driven gastritis in an inflammasome‐dependent manner, and late‐stage cytokine–driven gastric tumorigenesis independent of inflammasomes. Here, AIM2 is linked to Helicobacter pylori infectious disease.
