Although accumulated evidence provided in the previous studies cannot be conclusive for the role of ASIC1a in regulating the exercise pressor reflex in PAD, data of our current study suggest that there is a discrepancy in ASIC1a and ASIC3 responsiveness in IB4− and IB4+ muscle DRG neurons, especially with a low pH, following femoral artery ligation. The gene discussed is ASIC3; the disease is peripheral arterial disease.
