Another study from France reported that epimutations of DNA mismatch repair genes, such as MLH1 and MSH2, can be transmitted intergenerationally; epigenetic silencing of these genes has been related to increased risk of early-onset colorectal and endometrial cancers, and children who inherited these epimutations also developed early colonic tumors [23]. The gene discussed is MSH2; the disease is colonic neoplasm.
