Alpha subunit protein kinase B (AKT1), a member of the serine/threonine protein kinase family, has been shown to have a role in a variety of tumors, such as prostate cancer, osteosarcoma, ovarian cancer, and endometrial cancer, by inducing apoptosis, inhibiting tumor cell proliferation, and decreasing tumor cell invasion and metastatic capacity [52–55]. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is prostate cancer.
