ACE and Alzheimer disease: Among the antihypertensive agent classes, renin-angiotensin system (RAS) inhibitors, particularly angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) and angiotensin II type 1 receptor blockers (commonly used as angiotensin II receptor blockers, ARBs), have been reported to have potential benefits on reducing the risk of incident AD (Li et al., 2010; Davies et al., 2011; Barthold et al., 2018).
