Xu et al. (2021) revealed that CD74 expression was higher in glioma cells compared to normal brain cells. Moreover, the expression of CD74 was higher in HGG compared to LGG. It was suggested that CD74 is a biomarker of LGG for poor prognosis and also could be a therapeutic target for glioma (Xu et al., 2021). In another study, expression of CD74 was shown to contribute to resistance to treatments (e.g., themozolomide) in GBM (Presti et al., 2018). In our study, CD74 was found to be up-regulated in the TCGA-LGG samples. This evidence concerns the gene CD74 and central nervous system cancer.
