In the present study, infected swimmers with giardiasis showed a statistically significant reduction in the mean of ferritin, transferrin, iron, and lactoferrin as compared with non-infected ones [(21.7 ± 1.61 vs. 110.7 ± 2.26), (264.4 ± 5.43 vs. 312.3 ± 1.35), (54.5 ± 1.2 vs. 121.5 ± 1.43), and (288.8 ± 7.28 vs 394.9 ± 4.27) respectively]. This evidence concerns the gene LTF and giardiasis.
