Elevated COFILIN phosphorylation after SSH2 knockdown was previously demonstrated to induce the activation of Caspase-3/7 in a human renal cell carcinoma cell line (Lu et al., 2014), and activation of Caspase-3/7 is known to trigger apoptotic cell death (Saller et al., 2010). Here, CASP3 is linked to renal cell carcinoma.
