GPT and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease: We considered the level of AST > 35 IU/l in males and > 31 IU/l in females abnormal, while ALT > 45 IU/l in males and > 34 IU/l in females was considered abnormal; it was detected that the number of cases with elevated AST serum levels was significantly increased in NAFLD patients compared to cases with normal liver (19.6% vs. 0.0%) with (p = 0.011) while no significant difference was found regarding the number of patients with elevated ALT (p = 0.285).
