TLR4 contribution to the vascular damage by activating inflammatory signalling pathways involving oxidative stress mechanisms, and its closely association with the pathogenesis of CVDs such as atherosclerosis and hypertension, have been described (De Batista et al., 2014; Yang et al., 2014; Hernanz et al., 2015; Qi et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene TLR4 and atherosclerosis.
