In the context of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), MEF2 in pulmonary artery endothelial cells (PAECs) significantly decreases the expression of pulmonary vascular homeostasis-related genes, such as microRNAs 424 and 503, connexins 37 and 40, and kruppel-like factors (KLF) (Kim et al., 2013). Here, MEF2A is linked to pulmonary arterial hypertension.
