Although the molecular mechanism is not clear, EMT is associated with downregulation of the transcription factor Grhl2, a known suppressor of EMT in breast cancer [62] and previously found to be enriched in KMT2C binding events [16], and upregulation of EMT-promoting transcription factors such as Snai1, Snai2 and Zeb1 [86–88] as well as EMT target genes such as Cdh2 and various collagens proteins. This evidence concerns the gene GRHL2 and breast carcinoma.
