Recently the nonsteroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist finerenone was demonstrated to reduce progression of CKD and development of CVD (particularly reduced hospitalization for heart failure) in two large trials FIDELIO-DKD and FIGARO-DKD including patients with type 2 diabetes and a broad range of CKD with UACR >30 mg/g and eGFR>25 ml/min/1.73m2 [25, 26]. Here, NR3C2 is linked to heart failure.
