This Bcl-2K17D mutant, which can still inhibit RyRs but not IP3Rs, was included in the present study to investigate whether the observed effects by Bcl-2 overexpression can be linked to Bcl-2′s ability to bind and inhibit IP3Rs. In addition, Bcl-2 family proteins are associated with AD (Callens et al., 2021). Here, BCL2 is linked to Alzheimer disease.
