Preeclampsia has been linked with reduced ADAMTS13 activity, likely due to the combination of pregnancy-related reduction in ADAMTS13, the risk of vWF-mediated placental micro-thrombosis in the setting of reduced protease activity, and the inflammation-induced inhibition of ADAMTS13 proteolytic activity (89–92). The gene discussed is ADAMTS13; the disease is deep vein thrombosis.
