In the present study, cisplatin upregulated both ferroptosis and mitophagy, specifically autophagy (Figure 1,2), and genetic inhibition of BNIP3- or PINK1-PARK2-mediated mitophagy resulted in aggravation of ferroptosis in cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury (Figure 3, 5, 7,9). This evidence concerns the gene PINK1 and acute kidney injury.
