We can summarize that there is a link between preeclampsia and placental ischemia, as we have observed in studies in animal models [12], leading to hypertension and proteinuria; there is lower placental flow in pregnant women with preeclampsia [14]; failure of the physiological transformation of the spiral arteries; and an increase in the relationship between maternal placental growth factor (PlGF) and sFlt-1 [17,18]. The gene discussed is PGF; the disease is preeclampsia.
