The protein expression level of human VAT macrophage markers further revealed that obese OSA patients were characterized by significantly higher protein expression levels of M1 macrophages (CD11c,1.43 ± 0.50 vs. 0.61 ± 0.21 IOD/AREA, p < 0.001), while a lower M2 macrophages (CD206, 0.51 ± 0.15 vs. 1.10 ± 0.38 IOD/AREA, p < 0.001) in VAT (Figures 4B, C). This evidence concerns the gene ITGAX and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.
