Some scholars have found that the expression of AQP4 is significantly raised in peripheral blood, cortex, and hippocampus of sepsis patients, along with an enhanced inflammatory response and cognitive dysfunction aggravation.[17, 18, 19] AQP4 knockdown can reduce lipopolysaccharide (LPS) ‐induced astrocyte activation thus decreasing the expression levels of TNF‐α and IL‐6.[20] However, some scholars also found that AQP4 expression decreased in cortex of SAE mice.[12] Therefore, the protein expression level changes and roles of AQP4 in SAE have not been clarified. Here, TNF is linked to Sepsis.
