Characterizing the impact and interplay of obesity and its concomitant diseases on the specifics of peripheral blood monocyte subsets, these data reveal highly significant redistributions of the three CD14/CD16 monocyte subsets and clinical characteristics as, e.g., BMI, lipid-lowering medications, hypertension, HbA1c, lipids, or liver fibrosis. Here, CD14 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
