Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder pathophysiologically characterized by extracellular amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaque, intracellular neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) composed of hyperphosphorylated Tau protein, and neuronal death as well as synaptic loss leading to cognitive decline [1]. Here, MAPT is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
