IL6 and inflammatory response: In conclusion, the studies reviewed here demonstrate that in asthmatic airway inflammation the interaction between immune cells and fibroblasts is significantly important for the release of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and IL-8 that results in neutrophil activation and chemotaxis, even when the communication is between fibroblasts and classical allergic immune effector cells such as eosinophils, mast cells and T-cells.
