IFN-β therapy is effective in both TH1-driven and TH17-driven autoimmunity diseases such as EAE and relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) as IFN-β blocks TH1 associated pathologies via the inhibition of inflammatory interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) and interleukin-12 (IL-12) (15). This evidence concerns the gene IFNB1 and relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis.
