STING is a cytosolic sensor of the cyclic dinucleotide 2′3′-cyclic guanosine monophosphate–adenosine monophosphate (2′3′-cGAMP), which is produced by cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS) due to cytosolic DNA as a result of cell death or viral infection (Decout et al., 2021). The gene discussed is CGAS; the disease is viral infectious disease.
