BCHE and Alzheimer disease: The utility of using scopolamine as a model for Alzheimer’s is supported by the ability of central cholinesterase inhibitor drugs for AD therapy, such as rivastagmine, donepezil, and galantamine, to improve animal memory by reversing the effects of scopolamine (Bartus, 1978; Mewaldt and Ghoneim, 1978; Bejar et al., 1999; Misane and Ogren, 2003; Takahata et al., 2005; van der Staay and Bouger, 2005; de Bruin and Pouzet, 2006; Skalicka-Wozniak et al., 2018; Yadang et al., 2020).
