RIOX2 and cancer: MINA53 and NO66 are also reported to have histone lysine demethylase (KDM) activity, i.e., on H3K9 for MINA53 and on H3K4/K36 for NO66.9,10 The genes encoding for both MINA53 and NO66 are highly expressed in several cancers with poor prognosis, suggesting that they may be of interest as cancer drug targets.11–13 However, the physiological roles of MINA53 and NO66 have not yet been fully defined.
