HOXD9 has been shown to promote cancer development via transcriptional activation of oncogenes, such as RUN and FYVE domain containing 3 (RUFY3), Snail family transcriptional repressor 1 (SNAI1), Sodium channel epithelial 1α subunit (SCNN1A) and Hemicentin 1 (HMCN1) [11, 37–39].
